Monticelli d'Ongina is considered the capital of white garlic because its production is a high quality garlic well-known around the world. The environmental, climatic and geophysical conditions contribute to cultivating a balanced product that can be used for cooking and therapeutic aims. This garlic is the 'piacentino bianco' variety, with a white and perfumed core rich in vitamins and mineral salts. It has an incredible aroma and can resist for a long time (sometimes a whole year).  

Every year, on the first Sunday of October, garlic is celebrated with a fair in Monticelli d’Ongina. Music, perfumes and fun for four days, with market stands selling typical products from Piacenza, food and wine in the typical rural atmosphere of long ago.
