LAZZARELLO OBSERVATORY

Loc. Lazzarello, Osservatorio Astronomico
Description
The Obesrvatory is in Lazzarello di Pecorara, 785 m above sea level, in an isolated spot far from light pollution. It was built by Gruppo Astrofili di Piacenza in collaboration with Pecorara municipality and a few private and public sponsors.
Thanks to the observatory, Gruppo Astrofili di Piacenza can disseminate the knowledge of astronomy from a special place, particularly interesting for amateurs of astronomy and also schools.

The observatory offers:

A main telescope (Celestron, mod. OT C14) a Schmidt-Cassegrain with 355 mm of diameter and 3.9 m of focal length, with an Equatorial mount (10 Micron, mod. GM2000Q) relying on an integrated computerised system to compensate the earth's rotation and automatically detect astronomic objects on the celestial sphere (with GPS).

An Autoguider (Takahashi, mod. TOA 130F), an aprochromatic refractor telescope with 130 mm of diameter and 1 m of focal length, parallel to the main telescope to follow the celestial sphere during long exposure photography of astronomical objects, and for large objects.

Accessories such as a set of eyepieces to obtain the enlargements required for observation, solar filters in H-alpha and visible light, nebula filters, etc.

CCD cameras for autoguide and and recording of digital images for solar system and deep-sky objects.

Computer to control focus for the telescopes and automatic search of astronomical objects.

Next to the observatory main building a new didactic area will be created for conferences and accommodation.
