Piazza Trento
Travo castle is located on the left bank of Trebbia river, on the southern side of Piazza Trento close by other medieval houses.
It was built in the 12th century when the borough belonged to the Malaspina family, then it passed on to the Anguissola, who at the end of the 18th century transformed the castle in a noble manor. In 1978 Countess Maria Salini, an Anguissola widow, donated the castle to Travo Municipality. Since 1997 it also hosts the Civic Archaeological Museum.
Of its medieval structure, the castle only preserved a small portion to the south of the building, with tripartite windows. The square tower on the left was built at a later stage and was used as main entrance to the borough.
