GROPPARELLO CASTLE

Via Roma, 84
Description

Medieval castle lying in a secular park and located on top of an extraordinary ravine. It dates back to the 7th century. it was donated by Charlemagne to Piacenza's bishop Giuliano 2nd in 808, it was then handed over to several families, among whom Pallavicino. Sforza and Campofregoso. The fief was at its best under the Anguissola family .
With its irregular plan the castle represents one of the most remarkable examples of medieval fortress. The ghost of Rosania Fulgosio apparently lives in it.
It encloses the Fairy Tale park and the Castle Inn.
