ANNIBALE UN MITO MEDITERRANEO

HANNIBAL A MEDITERRANEAN MYTH
Palazzo Farnese, Piazza Cittadella, 29
Description
The Municipality of Piacenza and the Foundation of Piacenza and Vigevano are organising an exhibition dedicated to the figure of the Carthaginian general Hannibal in order to rediscover his political and cultural heritage.
This Piacenza exhibition, sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Activities and Tourism, will be in particular focused on the role of the town, which was the setting of an important battle between Romans and Carthaginians in 218 BC, at the center of the expansionist strategy of the Roman State and, in addition, to the events that openend the possibility to Hannibal to conquer the Italian peninsula.
The exhibition will offer to the visitor important and significant works distributed in six thematic sections: All about Heracles; Hannibal's faces; Hannibal in Italy; Hannibal's adventure; The end of a romantic hero; Piacenza and Hannibal's legacy.

The exhibition will take place in the basement of Palazzo Farnese, one of the most important historical buildings of the city, built in the 16th century, by the will of  Margaret of Austria, wife of Ottavio Farnese.
