Piacenza, a place with a variety of different habitats, is open to the discovery of its ancient origins. The historical genesis of Piacenza province, with its first human settlements, go back through centuries: from Piacenziano, which existence is proved by findings of cetacean remains where the valley was once a sea, now preserved in the Geological Museum "Giuseppe Cortesi" in Castell'Arquato, up to the Etruscan age with its famous Bronze Liver, now on display at Piacenza in the Civic Museum of Palazzo Farnese, leading to the Romans and their precious document, the “Tabula Alimentaria Traianea”, found at Veleia and now preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Parma.
